Course Details

This 30-hour training programme, aligned with SAQA Unit Standard 242852, equips healthcare and allied health professionals with the essential theoretical knowledge and practical competencies required to perform accurate, safe, and compliant respiratory fit testing in occupational settings. The course supports effective respiratory protection programmes and promotes worker safety across a range of workplace environments.

Course Outcome

On achieving competence, learners will be able to do the following within their scope of practice:

  • Differentiate between qualitative and quantitative respiratory fit testing methods
  • Perform qualitative and quantitative fit tests in accordance with best-practice guidelines
  • Recognise the benefits and limitations of different fit testing methods
  • Identify risks, contraindications, and safety considerations associated with fit testing
  • Understand the roles and responsibilities of personnel involved in the respiratory fit-testing process
