Spirometry Training Illovo, October – November 2019

It was my pleasure to teach the foundational spirometry course to 12 students from 6 countries for Illovo at their training facility in Eston. There were representatives from Malawi, Swaziland, Zambia, Tanzania and Mozambique.

We did 4 days of theory and lots of learning, and on day 5 there was an assessment day where the students completed a theory and practical exam. We sang a lot and laughed a lot and also did a lot of blowing on the spirometers practising our technique. Everyone did really well, and I am confident that with the new skills learned we will have some quality spirometry testing being done at all Illovo sites.

My thanks and gratitude to the team at the Illovo Training facility who looked after us very well. The accommodation and food were top class, I didn’t want to leave!
