Spirometry Short Course, Johannesburg – June 2019
We taught a Spirometry Short Course for 6 students who are busy with their qualification in Occupational Health at the University of Johannesburg. This was the third of three short courses done back to back.
The students learned the basics of occupational spirometry, and as none of them had ever done spirometry before it was all new information. They also learned that it is a technique-based test and that actually blowing is not easy!
After two days of lots of information and theory, on the third day the students wrote a theory exam and did a practical assessment.
Well done to my SUPER 6 students as doing all three courses back to back is not easy. They learned a lot and gave their best. I look forward to great testing results when the students go out to complete their portfolios and test actual workers in the occupational clinic setting.
Also, a big thank you to Petro and Lindsay for all their support during the training.
