Spirometry, Audiometry, Vision, and Food Safety Short Courses
It was an incredible privilege to spend time with the Chevron Occupational Health team in Luanda during this training period. Although Luanda had previously been just a transit stop for me, this visit gave me the opportunity to fully explore the city and experience its rich culture.
From the enthusiastic students to the beautiful beach atmosphere and warm Portuguese hospitality, it was an unforgettable experience.
The training took place at Chevron’s head office in Luanda, with a total of 19 participants, including two doctors, and the rest comprising a mix of offshore and onshore nurses.
Dividing the group into two smaller teams created a more intimate learning environment, allowing for greater individual attention. Having all the necessary equipment on-site enhanced the effectiveness of the practical sessions, providing the perfect setting to learn the latest advancements in spirometry, audiometry, vision screening, and food safety.
While most participants had prior experience in these areas, we focused on refining the details of each medical surveillance test, deepening both theoretical understanding and practical skills. Their dedication was truly inspiring, as they worked late into the evenings to ensure that everyone performed at their best and passed the course.
The teamwork and collaboration displayed by both groups were exceptional.
I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude for the incredibly rewarding experience in Luanda. From the Chevron medical team and participants to the comfortable accommodation, scenic routes, and delicious cuisine, my stay in Angola was enriching in every way. A special thanks to Michaela, the ATA team, and the EFHA team for your tireless efforts behind the scenes to ensure the success of this training.
Chevron medical team, continue the remarkable work you’re doing to positively impact the lives of your employees. Your compassion and dedication truly make a difference!
