Occupational Screening Spirometry Short Course, Malawi, November 2021
After a long while of planning, and in collaboration with the Pan African Thoracic Society (PATS) and the College of Medicine, Malawi, it was lovely to start the spirometry training for this small team in Neno District Malawi in preparation for spirometry data collection on the “Prevalence and Associated Risk Factors of Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease among Adults in Neno District- A Malawian Rural Setting” project.
We ran this course in a Hybrid way – I facilitated the theory online from Durban, whilst our certified Malawian Spirometry Trainer Mrs Rose Malamba facilitated two days of practical sessions in Neno.
Our 3 new friends are new to spirometry and can be assured of our ongoing support all the way through their project.
A big thank you to my colleague and friend Mrs Rose Malamba for travelling all the way to Neno from Blantyre to support the team and for her expertise and support.
All the best to Haules, Ajra and Horatio as you learn all about spirometry in the field.
