Occupational Screening Audiometry Certificate of Competence Short Course, Port Elizabeth – March 2019

The first Education for Health Africa Occupational Screening Audiometry course in Port Elizabeth was held on 13 – 15 March 2019.

There were 5 learners; 3 familiar faces and two new ones. With the Audio course, the three ladies completed the set of three short courses in Occupational Health. We hope to see the other two learners soon for the other two courses.

It was a mixed group where some had experience of audiometry and for others it was brand new.

After the three days those with experience were no longer just “putting patients in a booth”. They now knew what it was all about and understood their role in preventing Noise Induced Hearing Loss. For the novices it was a great learning opportunity to do it right from the word go.

On the assessment day we had some challenges with load shedding but fortunately the venue had enough natural light and we could complete the theory paper without being too much in the dark.

The venue with their friendly staff and catering were great.

Thank you to Lindsay and her team for bringing quality training to Port Elizabeth even if it is only a small group.
