Introduction to Occupational Health Short Course
Greetings to all our returning EFHA learners!
During the week of 27 May 2024, while many were preparing to vote in South Africa, we were joined by two dedicated learners: one from Cape Town and one from Swaziland, for our Introduction to Occupational Health course.
This course provides a comprehensive overview of the key responsibilities of occupational health nurses and underscores the vital role we play in ensuring workplace safety. Through engaging discussions and practical examples, we leveraged our diverse industry backgrounds to learn from each other.
The challenges faced in the field of occupational health vary widely across different industries, but there are always practical solutions that can be successfully applied.
One of the highlights of the course was our in-depth discussions on supporting vulnerable employees and the critical chapter on disaster and emergency management. Our lively exchanges on handling evacuations, particularly when members of the public are involved, sparked a wealth of ideas and shared strategies.
By gaining a deeper understanding of their roles and the impact they can have, I am confident that our learners will go on to make significant contributions wherever their careers take them.
