Certificate of Competence in Occupational Vision Screening

A warm welcome to all our EFHA learners!

I’m delighted to share that our recent Vision Screen course was a resounding success, bringing together 5 enthusiastic students from across South Africa. Our diverse group consisted of 4 students from KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) and 1 from Cape Town. The online format once again proved to be highly effective, allowing participants to engage from the comfort of their homes or offices and expanding our reach. Notably, 80% of our students came from a medical background, working in occupational health settings, which enriched the learning experience.

A highlight of the course was the discussion of case studies, where students applied theoretical knowledge to practical scenarios. I appreciate the active engagement of all participants and wish them continued success in their training. On a personal note, this was my first time facilitating the Vision Screen course online, and I must admit I was initially sceptical about teaching the related practical aspects online. However, I’m thrilled to have taken on the challenge and discovered that, with the right approach, online learning can be just as impactful.

This experience has broadened my perspective, and I look forward to hosting more VS online courses in the future.
