Certificate of Competence in Occupational Screening Spirometry Short Course

Greetings to all our EFHA learners!

This September, our lungs got all the attention as we hosted a spirometry training course in Ghana. Ten enthusiastic healthcare professionals – five doctors and five nurses – joined us online via Zoom, proving that even across time zones, good breathing knows no borders.

The training covered the latest spirometry guidelines, with a special focus on calibration (because accuracy matters!) and acceptability criteria ensuring that results don’t just look impressive but are actually correct. Participants had the chance to practice their skills hands-on, producing spirograms and tackling assignments that kept both their brains and their breath flowing.

What’s next? After completing their written assignments, learners will face an online practical examination. Once they blow us away (pun intended), they’ll officially earn the title of Occupational Spirometry Screeners ready to make workplaces healthier, one test at a time.
