Audiometry Short Course, Johannesburg – June 2019
We taught an Audiometry Course for 6 students who are busy with their qualification in Occupational Health at the University of Johannesburg. It was my absolute pleasure to facilitate for these students, and also my first course back after working abroad for a year.
This was the first of three short courses back to back. The students worked really hard and also learned a lot of new information as none of them had done audiometry in an occupational setting before. They learned just how important our role is when it comes to Audiometry testing and how our test plays a pivotal role in management of the workers and also possible future compensation claims.
I also learned just how cold Gauteng mornings can be in winter!
It helped that we had a small group, and I could be more lenient with regards to time frames. After 2 days of theory we had our assessment day on Day 3, where the students wrote their theory exam and also did a practical assessment.
My thanks to each student who worked hard and gave it their best. Even though there was stress and nerves, we managed to still have a lot of laughs and fun whilst learning. Well done my SUPER 6!
Also, a big thank you to Petro, Karin, Lindie and Lindsay for all the support during the training.
